As Trump threatens secondary sanctions on Russia, Kremlin says it is continuing to talk to US

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose secondary sanctions on Russia if Moscow does not actively participate in negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine. In response to this statement, the Kremlin affirmed that Russia is still maintaining dialogue with the US and stressed the complexity of the negotiation process.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said:

> We are continuing to contact the US side. The topic is very complicated. The content that we are discussing, related to the settlement of the Ukrainian issue, is very complicated. This requires a lot of effort.

Earlier, President Trump expressed disappointment with the peace talks in Ukraine and warned of imposing strong economic sanctions on Russia if Moscow does not agree to a ceasefire. He stressed the possibility of imposing "devastating" sanctions but hoped that it would not be necessary.

Meanwhile, Ukraine welcomed President Trump's tough statement, saying it sent a "strong message" and could boost diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

The current situation shows the complexity and sensitivity of relations between the parties involved. Maintaining dialogue and finding a peaceful solution remains a top priority, although many challenges remain to be overcome.
